Army trains J&K Police personnel to boost counter terrorism operations | KNO

Jammu, Apr 07 (KNO): In a significant step towards strengthening operational synergy and enhancing counter-terrorism preparedness, Army’s Jammu based Tiger Division have started Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorism (CI/CT) Refresher Course for Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel. The course, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was inaugurated by Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police (Armed), J&K, along with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Tiger Division and other senior officials of the Indian Army and J&K Police. The programme is a specialised refresher course focusing on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations, aimed at upgrading skills, standardising procedures, and enhancing joint operational effectiveness. The course commenced on April 7 and it will conclude on April 18, 2026. The field training is being held at the Miran Sahib Brigade under Tiger Division in Jammu. Officials said that unique initiative has been designed to address the evolving security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir by improving coordination, interoperability, and tactical preparedness between security forces. It also seeks to strengthen junior leadership, crucial for executing small-team operations in counter-terror scenarios. Officials informed that total of 108 police personnel will undergo intensive training covering a wide spectrum of operational aspects, including use of new-generation equipment, drone operations, and counter-drone measures. The course has been jointly conceptualised by senior leadership of the Indian Army and J&K Police to ensure seamless coordination and shared situational awareness during joint operations. Officials highlighted that past joint operations in areas such as Kathua, Dudu-Basantgarh, Doda, Kishtwar, and Rajouri have demonstrated the importance of mutual trust and coordination. The refresher course is expected to further consolidate these strengths and enhance tactical-level interoperability. Senior officers emphasised that such initiatives are vital for building a disciplined, coordinated, and effective response mechanism to emerging threats, reaffirming the commitment of the Indian Army and J&K Police to maintaining peace and stability in the region—(KNO)
